Grassroots Spotlight: Bill Petty Faces New Challenges

On July 13th Bill Petty was selected to be the Republican nominee for a vacant County Commission seat in District 10. He received 153 votes, while former Williamson County GOP chair Cheryl Brown received 78 votes.

The key difference for voters, and why he won by a 2-1 margin, was Mr. Petty’s message to get Williamson County’s $1.2 billion debt and overall spending under control.

The Challenge

The day after the vote, Joe T. Williams, who was a Republican on the night of the vote, filed a qualifying petition to officially run against Mr. Petty as an Independent.

Petty will now move on to the general election on November 5th. Mr. Petty, who faces Joe T Williams (now an Independent), remains the only grassroots conservative candidate.

This election will determine if he will become the new official county commissioner in D10.

Winning the County Commission seat on November 5th will be a massive boost to create real representative government in Williamson County. It will be Mr. Bill Petty’s job to ensure that.
